Triplets at Bear Creek

Tucker, Mildred and the tripletsYesterday afternoon our LaMancha milk goat (Mildred) surprised us with three babies.  It was a terrible windy and rainy day, so the kids and I grabbed the babies and Mildred and brought them into the barn where it was a bit warmer.  We found that they are all girls, the largest being all white.  Tucker fell in love with the tiniest baby right away.

When I checked in on them this morning they were all well and happy.  They even attempted to play and jump around already, which is fun to watch!

The triplets are LaMancha/Nubian cross.

The LaMancha is a breed of milking goat noted for its apparent lack of, or much reduced, external ears. The LaMancha breed is medium in size, and is also noted for a generally calm, quiet, and gentle temperament.

We have had Mildred for 2 years and use her milk for making cheese and drinking.

Tucker said he would like to have an entire herd of goats some day.  We will have to see about that!  We are running out of room for any more animals especially goats.  We seem to have a lot of trouble keeping them in their pens.
