The Lifetime Membership from NotebookingPages.com is a great way to enhance learning and create a beautiful portfolio showcasing what you’ve learned. We were very excited to receive a lifetime membership to this wonderful resource and began planning right away how we would use it for the review. NotebookingPages.com has a lot to choose from when deciding how to use it. Since we were planning a summer vacation we thought it would be fun to use NotebookingPages.com to plan our vacation and learn about where we were going.
Notebooking can be a great way to enhance the curriculum you already have or it can be the only curriculum you need. We haven’t used notebooking very much in the past so I was excited to learn all about it and what it can do for our homeschool on the NotebookingPages.com website.
Notebooking is a method of study that involves creating a personalized notebook of learning experiences, new knowledge, insights, sketches, illustrations, creative writing, and reflections. Students have the freedom to dig as deeply into the subject as they desire building a notebook they have put together on what they have learned. NotebookingPages.com has preprinted pages to help you plan and put together a personal notebook on just about anything you can think of. Some of the studies included in the lifetime membership to NotebookingPages.com include:
- Art Study
- Character Study
- Famous men and women
- Geography (state/country studies, continental, world maps)
- History of the Ancient World, Medieval, Renaissance, Reformation, and Modern times
- Music Study
- Nature Study
Under each of the above studies are hundreds of options to choose from and more being added all the time.
How We Used NotebookingPages.com
We are looking forward to using NotebookingPages.com this coming school year for science, history etc. but since we were planning/taking a summer vacation through this review we chose to document and learn more about the areas we were traveling to using mostly the geography pages. There were so many options when choosing what to include in our travel notebook and probably some I haven’t even thought of yet. We traveled through several states on our trip so we included some state studies in our notebook. You can do an entire notebook on your state but we chose a few pages to use out of each state we were traveling through. We used the page on state facts for each of the states as well as a blank map to fill in on where we traveled as well as major cities and landmarks. Before we left on vacation we went through and filled in the state facts. We also printed out the travel journal pages for each state we were traveling through and worked on them while we were traveling and when we got home. NotebookingPages.com has pages for each National Park and Monument as well, so we printed out the appropriate pages for the places we would be visiting. We also printed out maps of the parks we were going to from their own websites to include in our binder as well. Now that we are home from our vacation I am finding more pages to add to our notebooks such as nature studies on some of the trees and animals we had the opportunity to see. The possibilities are endless as to what could be added to this notebook.
I really like the idea of notebooking and how it could change our homeschool. We have done some notebooking with science in the past but I am excited about how we can use it in the future. My kids have very unique interests and I can see them putting together their own notebooks. My son is very interested in Mechanics. He can use NotebookingPages.com to put together a unique notebook on what he has learned and studied with mechanics. I can see incorporating the famous people, geography, experiment, copywork, reading log, timeline pages in his notebook. This could be a huge help to a boy that doesn’t enjoy writing or reading unless it has to do with mechanics. This would be a notebook he would want to share with others and so he would take care to do nice neat work. Ok, maybe I’m dreaming with that one, but I can definitely see how notebooking could benefit my son and our homeschool.
