I am ecstatic: I can hardly believe it, but my moose has just been delivered, by the Canada Post truck on a Sunday (which they must do only pre-Christmas, I guess) and he is BEYOND wonderful! Now we can both rest easy about the deliver, plus I will be able to include him in my Christmas decor (and all year round, too, of course)! Your photos on Etsy are lovely, but still the moose in real life is even more exquisite. And you did not need to worry at all about antler, ear or leg disarray: I can see how carefully you packaged him and I don’t think any extremity moved even a nudge. He feels really lovely: the felt is gorgeous and he’s such a satisfying weight. I also really like the packaging: that tissue paper is lovely (I am saving it for re-use) and so is your thank-you card. I could not be more delighted, Teresa. We are a small family farm raising Registered Romney sheep. We offer wool for needle felting and hand spinning, needle felting kits and unique needle felted art made from our Romney wool. We also have market lambs and breeding stock available. I was raised on a farm in North Dakota and have been around pets and livestock my entire life which led to my affection for all animals. Felting 101
So how do these soft fluffy fibers turn into something as solid and dense as felt fabric? Wool fibers have tiny crimps all along their length. This is what allows them to wrap around each other and hold tight during spinning in order to make yarn. These crimps also allow them to become hopelessly tangled among each other in order to create felt. The tricky part is getting it to turn into the shape you want!
