In the grips of the Christmas spirit I was struck by the creative urge to felt a polar bear to sit atop our Christmas tree. With just days to spare, I quickly felted together an adorable Momma Polar Bear and carefully set her atop my tree to rule over the Christmas festivities. She did an amazing job and looked awesome up there.
When it came time to start packing away the Christmas decor, I found myself feeling a pang of regret. I had grown attached to my Christmas Polar Bear and I wasn’t quite ready to say goodbye. By the time the tree came down I knew this polar bear was going to be my next felt and finish project.
I set to work felting my momma bear a new pair of sturdy bear legs so she would be able to support her growing girth (she is a very large bear after all). I took my time adding additional details to really bring her to life. I am proud of how great she turned out. She has now taken up residence in her new home atop the mantle at the Nome Schoolhouse. It is no secret that we are pretty crazy about animals here at Bear Creek Felting.
