Have you ever been to one of the events at the Nome Schoolhouse? If you haven’t, you should keep an eye on the calendar and try to find one that fits your schedule in 2023. We spent a lot of time renovating and preparing the Nome Schoolhouse to become a warm, welcoming, and fun place! Our events give you the opportunity to experience the best of what Bear Creek Felting has to offer and to treat yourself while doing it.
One of the things I love the most about renovating and opening the Nome Schoolhouse is our ability to host the most amazing events! Nome Eweniversity is our Non-profit that supports the education at the Nome Schoolhouse; our place for classes, retreats, entertainment, and more.
We’ve been able to host weddings, anniversaries, and reunions, along with our special fiber arts retreats. I’ll tell you a little secret; our historic retreat center is absolutely one of my favorite parts of Bear Creek Felting. That’s why I’m so excited about this upcoming event, Needle Felting Safari Retreat.
This February 3-4, fiber artist and teacher Jean Hainlen will be joining us in preparation for Valentine’s Day for a colorful and creative retreat. This event is for beginning through advanced felters, and includes room, meals, supplies, and classes in the retreat cost.
Jean Hainlen is one of our favorite instructors here at the Nome Schoolhouse. She brings her textile knowledge and art degree to our community to guide us in “painting with wool.” Retreat projects will include a felted Valentine’s card, felt coaster, flower composition on linen, and still life with flowers.
If you can’t make it to the Hearts and Flowers Felting Retreat, but you are looking for some Valentine’s inspiration, check out the Academy. Our courses and community are the perfect place to hone your skills, make some friends, and a variety of video courses.
This year, make the Valentine Bouquet and Garland to give a beautiful homemade gift to someone you love, only available to our Academy Members. We will be offering a Valentine Garland kit through our Eweniversity as a fundraiser for our non-profit soon. And don’t forget to stock up on all the Valentine’s related supplies we carry at Bear Creek Felting, like the Red + Pink Wool Sampler and the Felting Wool Grab Bag.
