Is the current global condition getting ewe down? With all the tension caused by the outbreak and lockdowns, we understand the stress and anxiety you might be experiencing. Experts encourage us to keep active and to engage in relaxation exercises to soothe our minds.

Since these days we’re mostly restricted to staying at home, we need to make an extra effort to commit to staying active…for our own physical and mental health. Every day, try to get up and walk around your home, stretch your entire body, use a home treadmill, jog on the spot, anything to get the heart rate going.  We know that you would probably love to visit a new city ever so often as your new hobby but in the meantime, perhaps you could try mastering a skill.

If you haven’t already, consider taking up needle felting as a hobby. Needle felting is a great crafting activity for all ages. So, this is something the entire family can enjoy. It’s also pretty easy to get started. You don’t need a long list of expensive equipment and you don’t need to have prior experience. All you need are a few basic supplies and your imagination. With needle felting, just like any other art, all you really need is to open up your mind and allow your creativity to flow.

You’ll start out doing simple crafts and designs, and as you progress you can take on more intricate and detailed crafts. If you start needle felting as a solo activity, pretty soon you’ll find out how relaxing and rewarding it can be. From holding the super soft ball of wool to seeing your cute little masterpiece in the end, it not only relaxes and soothes the mind but also gives you a feeling of fulfillment.

As a family activity, needle felting is great for bonding. This is not just for adults. Kids love crafting activities, and they’ll definitely get excited to be able to create their little toys from scratch. Apart from improving coordination, this can also improve focus, encourage healthy social skills and build self-esteem. Felting together can help to build and strengthen your connection to each other and foster a feeling of belonging and community. It also creates a fun and calming environment, which allows for a raw expression of self. Felting is the perfect craft to relax and unwind with. There’s no need to rush your craft. All you need to do is work on it consistently. Make it a light and fun activity.

Making a snowman is one of the most simple crafts to start with, and we have the perfect kit for making a snowman. Kids and beginners can also learn how to make a dragon or even a penguin with us, through our special beginner courses at our Felting Academy. We have easy beginner needle felting dragon kits and penguin kits to get you started.

If you decide to try needle felting or take on the world one city at a time, always remember the reason behind your new tradition and keep at it. Plan ahead, prepare and embrace the changes as new opportunities.

We can’t wait to see the awesome felted crafts ewe create with your entire family, starting this Lenten season.
