Having a convenient place to keep track of all of our homeschooling plans and accomplishments is important and that is why I want to share all about the Hey Mama! Print Schoolhouse Planner 2016-2017, a new school planner from The Old Schoolhouse. I have tried several different homeschool planners over the years we have been homeschooling and I am always looking out for the one that would fit all of my needs.
This 192 page, spiral bound planner is designed with the busy homeschooling mom in mind. The first few pages of the planner include the full 2016, 2017 and 2018 calendars each on their own separate page to give you a good overview for planning. Following the yearly calendars are the monthly calendars beginning July 2016. The monthly calendars take up two pages for each month with large squares for each day with plenty of space to write in. For each month there is also an entire lined page for writing down notes. Every month has a “Hey Mama,” note/letter written to homeschooling moms offering encouragement for this sometimes overwhelming journey we are all on.
Following the monthly calendars are the weekly calendars. Each 7 day week has columns for up to 5 children with space to write their daily plans.
There are pages for setting monthly, semester and yearly goals for each of your children. (5) The goal categories include:
- Personal Talents
- Life Skills
The planner has many more helpful charts, logs and homeschool helps including:
- Attendance Charts for each child up to 5 children with boxes to check off for up to 180 days.
- Book log for each child
- Curriculum planning sheet for each child
- Homeschool Contact List
- Writing prompts
- Story Starters
- The Thirteen Colonies by Date
- Timeline of Inventions
- US Presidents and their wives
- Branches of Federal, State and Local Governments
- United States and Capitals
- an Academic Transcript with instructions
- A chart to list other Courses that were taken.
The encouraging “Hey Mama” notes continue throughout the planner.
At our homeschool convention this year I attended a seminar on intentional homeschooling and was inspired to set goals this year for our homeschool. Not just academic goals, but other goals that I had never thought to add to our homeschool plans. I was excited to see monthly, Semester and yearly goal planning pages in this planner. I’m looking forward to sitting down with my kids and setting goals not only for their educational needs but their separate spiritual, physical, financial and relationship needs as well. I think this will be a great addition to our homeschool planning!
The Curriculum planning sheets for each child will come in handy not only for planning, but also having records of this when looking back in the future. This will also be a big help when planning for the next child in this grade, to see what we used in the past.
We read a lot of books and usually record them, but having them altogether for the year in one book with all the other records will help to keep me organized.
The paper in this planner is nice and thick, so that writing on the pages is a pleasure, plus the writing doesn’t show through the pages to the other side.
I like the idea of the end of the year checklists and transcript, this will definitely help me keep on track in recording all of this important information for each student.
Out of everything that the Hey Mama! Schoolhouse Planner has going for it I love the “Hey Mama” notes the best! I have read similar notes in my Facebook newsfeed from The Old Schoolhouse Facebook page that have come at just the right time and given me the encouragement that I need. Homeschooling can be very challanging at times and the “Hey Mama” notes speak to me at the times that I need them the most! When I am feeling like a failure as a homeschool mom, facing trials that are interfering with homeschooling, comparing our homeschool with others, or many other causes for stress, It gives me peace to read a “Hey Mama” note like this:
Just a reminder because it’s easy sometimes to forget:
Daughter of the King, He loves you. He will never leave you. He has given you the “Mama heart” you have, for good reason. Keep walking. It’s all for a reason, a beautiful purpose. None of this is random, and at some point we will see His perfect Plan. It is good.
Today is good because He is your whole life. And He will maintain what He has built. His hand is on your head today.
If you are looking for a homeschool planner for this coming school year, you will find everything you need in the Hey Mama! PRINT Schoolhouse Planner 2016-2017 plus some extra encouragement and homeschool helps!
