FAQ – Moose Needle Felting Kit
Q: Is this kit okay for a true beginner?
A: It’s labeled Advanced Beginner, which means there are a few more details (like antlers and legs) than a very first project. That said, many complete beginners have started with this kit and done beautifully—it mostly comes down to your patience and willingness to follow the step-by-step instructions. If you’d like an easier starting point, you can begin with one of my simpler beginner animals and come back to the moose later.
Q: What’s the difference between the three kit options?
A:
-
Complete Kit: Everything you need, including needles and a foam cushion—best for new felters or gifting
-
Kit Without Cushion & Needles: Same wool and instructions, but no tools—best if you already own felting needles and a cushion
-
Eco-Friendly Kit: Includes needles and wool, but swaps the foam for a 100% wool felting pad—ideal if you want a longer-lasting, biodegradable option that’s especially nice to felt on
Q: How big is the finished moose?
A: Approximately 4″ × 4″, though each moose will be a little different depending on how firmly you felt and how you shape it.
Q: Do I need anything else besides what comes in the kit?
A: If you choose the Complete Kit or Eco-Friendly Kit, you’ll have everything you need to start felting right away. If you choose the Kit Without Cushion & Needles, you’ll just need your own felting needles and a suitable felting surface.
Q: Where does the wool come from?
A: The wool in this kit is grown on our family farm and processed in our own mill in North Dakota—handled with care from pasture to product.
Q: Is this kit included in the Needle Felting Academy discount?
A: Yes! Members of the Bear Creek Needle Felting Academy receive a discount on kits and select supplies. Be sure you’re logged in to see your member pricing at checkout.
