6 Felting Needles | 40 Gauge Star Felting Needle

The 40 Gauge Star Felting Needle is one of my favorite needles for working on very firm, densely felted wool.

I reach for this needle after my 36 and 38 gauge Star needles have done their job and the wool has become so firm that they are no longer easily penetrating or pulling the fibers in. The finer 40 gauge needle can continue working the surface without leaving larger needle marks.

I especially like this needle for felting onto firm felt sheets and our felt coasters, where a heavier needle can be difficult to push through the dense material. It is also a great finishing needle for refining details and smoothing the surface of your needle-felted projects.

Felting needles are extremely sharp and can break if bent or twisted. Always insert and remove the needle at the same angle.
