Loon #5

I needle felted my first loon years ago.  I sold that first loon right away and had requests for more.  I made two more loons and one miniature loon within a year.  I found that after adding spots to all those loons I didn’t want to make another.    I’m not sure how many years it has been since I made the last loon, but it must be just about the right time needed to forget.  🙂  Last summer we vacationed in Northern Minnesota at Scenic State Park and I was able to canoe on the lake one quiet morning, listening to the call of the loon.  As I would try to canoe up close to the loons they would dive down deep and pop up in different locations all around my canoe.  I am looking forward to another trip next week to Northern Minnesota and I am looking forward to another beautiful morning in the canoe with the loons.

While felting this sculpture of a loon I was dreaming of my upcoming vacation in nature with my family.  We camp each summer with my entire extended family, including my brother, sister and families as well as my dad.  This will be our first camping trip without my mom who passed away in January.  I am so thankful for the memories!  My mom would have loved this loon and would have been tempted to buy it and add it to her collection I am sure as she did with most of my creations.  🙂
