After April Showers Come May FeltersIt’s hard to believe we’re already in the middle of May! 2022 has been a remarkable year so far, from the abundance of adorable lambs at Bear Creek Farm to the amazing growth of the Nome Schoolhouse. Lambing season was quite rainy and stressful, though, so I’m taking a moment to relax and count my blessings before we get into the excitement of summer.

Six months ago, I reflected on the Nome Schoolhouse, which we completed just in time for the holidays. We hosted some wonderful winter celebrations, and the Schoolhouse quickly became a destination for crafters, artisans, and animal lovers of all types. Now that the weather is warmer and our 2022 event docket is filling up, there’s a constant buzz of creative energy at Nome Schoolhouse. And I couldn’t be happier!

We’ve already hosted several events, such as our wonderful birding retreat and Taste of Fiber exposition in April. Coming up, we’ll be taking a walk on the wild side in July and hosting a whole new series of educational programs at our new Nome Ewe-niversity. When there’s not a fun retreat or workshop happening, we’re hosting alumni reunions, weddings, and other delightful events at the Nome Schoolhouse.

As we just celebrated Mother’s Day and are about to honor our awesome dads as well, I’m in the spirit of family. Many of our events are amazing opportunities for families to enjoy crafts and nature (and nature-inspired crafts!) However, I also wanted to give soon-to-be parents the option to make something super special for their newborn.

Needle Felted Mobile Retreat | August 19-21, 2022I’m excited to announce that we’ve added a Needle Felted Mobile Retreat to the 2022 lineup! This August, craft your own beautiful, sustainably sourced mobile to hang above your baby’s crib. No synthetic plastics or crazy designs; this mobile features felted farmland animals and stars to entertain your little one! This project is also a lovely gift for any new parents.

We’ll provide all the materials, but you are of course welcome to work on your other needle-felting projects. Perhaps you’d like your mobile to have cute penguins and polar bears rather than a farmland theme. You’re the artist! Stock up on needle felting supplies and come join us.

The Nome Schoolhouse continues to thrive as a relaxing yet creative oasis, and I’d love to welcome you here for this retreat… or any of our inspiring events. If you’ve been a member of my Needle Felting Academy, come visit me in person and let’s create together! You can book a weekend here any time, too — not just when we have a retreat scheduled. Grab a needle felting kit, then come restore your spirit and celebrate your Bear Creek family at the Nome Schoolhouse.
