Summer’s here & the weather is fine. It’s about time you baaaaask in the sun and create needle felted sheep!

Now that the kids are off to camp, I have a perfect idea that will allow you to stay busy, perfect your craft, and make the most adorable, life-like creatures the kiddos will absolutely love once they get home.

The best part about this project is that whether you’re a newbie (I’m talking never picked up a needle before) or have been in the game for a while now, felted sheep are ideal for crafters of all levels—no previous wool felting, sewing, knitting, or crocheting experience necessary!

Part of the magic in making felted sheep is in the wool. The fibers you use tell their own story! That’s why I always encourage my academy students to find local farmers. There’s nothing like working with the material when you know where it’s from, how the animals are taken care of, and that it’s not treated with anything yucky or toxic you wouldn’t want in your home.

Start with one sheep, but let me tell you, you’ll quickly find that you’ll want to craft an entire flock of your own. I love how these felted pieces can bring a touch of southern charm to your space, no matter where in the world you live.

Measuring at approximately 4×4 inches, these cute & curly animals will make fantastic statement pieces in the kids’ room, on the bookshelf in your den, or perched up on your desk…that is, if you can get the little ones to stop playing with them for two minutes.

For this project you’ll need:

We wouldn’t make you go out and source these materials on your own. No way! Crafting is as easy as can be when you snag yourself a needle felting kit. I want everyone to have access to the beautiful world of crafts. That’s why I’ve compiled oh-so-simple video tutorials and all the materials you need in one place. Just click here, and in a few days, you’ll be sipping lemonade, listening to your favorite tunes, and making craft magic.
