Wool Needle Felting Cushion from Bear Creek Felting
$27.00 – $69.00
The perfect work surface for your needle felting project!
Foam felting cushions wear out fast and cause bits of foam to get stuck to your project. I have been contacted many times by customers that are concerned with the potential toxic chemicals that might be released from the foam while felting. I don’t know if we are endangered by toxic chemicals when we use one and have not fully researched this but the thought of this actually happening is a bit discomforting. We also should consider that we go through several foam cushions while felting and the impact that they might be having on the environment after we toss them into the garbage.
This needle felting cushions are all natural wool that is grown here in North Dakota by local farmers.
My favorite surface to felt on! Colors will Vary (they will not be the exact colors pictured as we are using different wool each time we make them)

I have been contacted many times by customers that are concerned with the potential toxic chemicals that might be released from the foam while felting. I don’t know if we are endangered by toxic chemicals when we use one and have not fully researched this but the thought of this actually happening is a bit discomforting. This needle felting cushions are all natural wool that is grown here in North Dakota by local farmers. We use natural colors for our needle felting pads so there is no dye involved.
Most importantly this felting pillow works! It works better than foam felting cushions, rice filled burlap bags and brush pads.

Don’t just take my word for it, see what Bear Creek customers have to say:
“Not going back to foam! The wool pad is lovely to hold and feel in your hand. It doesn’t make that weird noise when your needle goes through. It is more compatible with the wool, in that the wool seems to roll around on it more easily. I loved it the minute I took it out of the package! It seems to be thick enough and I didn’t have any issues with the needle going through to the other side. I tend to felt in my lap so I was a little worried about that. It handled the multi needle tool and the layering for wet felting great. I recommend the BC needle felting pad. It feels better in texture and softness. It is comfortable to use. Finally the wool seems to roll on it more easily.”  Kim
“Much, much more pleasing! Much more comfortable for my wrist holding the work, because it’s not so high off the table as the foam pad is. And if the needle goes through to the wool, it isn’t a problem. Mostly, it just feels soooooooo much better! Try this, I think you’ll find it much more pleasant to use than the foam. If you think you don’t like needle felting very much, at least try this wool pad. You may find, like me, that I’m even happier because I feel like I’ve found a way to really love this needle felting process so much more than before! Peggy
“The pad is a great size and a comfortable height for my wrists, and because it has some flexibility, I can tuck it into my travel kit. I love to felt when I am on long road trips. The foam cushion takes up too much space and it can be unpleasant to use for long periods of time- abrasive to the skin, bits of foam breaks off, etc. In addition, my foam cushion when getting worn (and it gets worn fast) tends to “grab” stray fibers which then cross contaminate other colors as I work. The pad does not do that.”  Chris
» » Your Bear Creek Needle Felting pillow can also be used as wool pressing mat. Quilters and embroiderers alike, enjoy the heat absorbing qualities of wool which press both sides of the fabric at once. (The dense wool absorbs the heat so its like pressing your blocks from both sides at once) Reduce pressing time and create professional results. Great for pressing quilt pieces, heat setting embroideries, or pressing seams open.

I just received my new needle felting work surface, I love it!
I had been using the hard foam, this is just so much improved. It feels right to needle felt
I will certainly buy a couple more

I like the felting surfaces. The size is perfect for small pieces, easy to travel with, and well made. Onward!!!

Love this felting pad. Feels very comfort to work with and doesn’t degrade like foam pads do. I will never go back to foam!

I am so glad to have purchased 2. My granddaughter loves to do needle felting. It is something we can do together. We have gone through way too many foam boards over the last two years since she wanted to learn. These are excellent. Thank you.

I really like this new style of felting foundation. I change sometimes depending on the project. As I use it more and more, I’m sure I’ll like it better each time.

Really like this so much better than the foam. 7″ is just right for the little to midsize pieces I am doing and will get the large in the future since it can be used for quilt piece ironing too.

worked great

I love this pillow! I wanted one as soon as I saw it but couldn’t justify the cost since my foam was still very usable. But the very same day my dog ate the foam (as well as the current project pinned to it), I happily ordered the 7×7 size which came quickly. I’ve already told the kids I want the larger one for Mother’s Day since they never know what to get me but the 7×7 size is perfect for since I tend to make smaller pieces. It will also be great for travel due to its size and comfort.
