You likely associate the fall season with the harvest — but for shepherds, spring is the season! We’ve finally finished shearing our flock and delivering our lambs, which means we’ve got plenty of fleece to share.
I’m excited to announce that my partner Chris and I will be participating in the local Shepherd’s Harvest festival. As it’s a celebration of all things “fleece, fiber, and family,” we’re eager to mingle with our fellow shepherds and fiber artists.
This festival includes everything from shearing and herding demos to knitting and spinning classes to live music! It’s truly an affirmation of how valuable and wonderful our fiber animals are — and how the fiber industry and fiber arts transform so many lives every year.
The event is happening on Mother’s Day weekend, May 6-8. What better time to honor our amazing ewes who just gave birth to adorable lambs? It’s also a time to pass on knowledge and inspire a new generation of shepherds. I’ll never forget introducing my own daughter to the wonderful world of sheep-rearing.
Chris and I will both be at the festival as vendors, sharing our sustainably sourced, innovative products with the local community. I’m grateful for the opportunity to educate people about needle felting and the environmental/economic benefits of local wool. Who knows, I may inspire some beginners to get started with needle felting.
